Joyce Update, June 9, 2009

Joyce is resting comfortably. She had a chemo session today, and it went very well, followed by a nice lunch at Overlake Hospital. Her pain killer patch, which is morphine based, was doubled in strength yesterday, which has given her substantial pain relief. We have an RN who comes in twice a week to evacuate the fluid build up in her lungs, and that is going well. She also now has a hospital bed in our home, with a wonderful pillow type liner, and loves it. We are in the process of hiring 24/7 medical assistants to be with her at the house around the clock, and hope to complete that hiring process very shortly. So, she is now doing a bit better and is smiling and giving me the dickins from time to time, so that is also a good sign. Next week she will have more chemo and another brain scan to determine if any more brain tumors have cropped up. Let's hope not. Thanks to everyone for your prayers, cards, letters, e mails, flowers and food. She is a bit weak to handle visitors at this time, but enjoys all the messages of support. You are the greatest!

  1. Paul and Joyce,

Glad to hear that this round of Chemo was a bit easier and that you are both getting the in-home help that is needed. And yes, the Komen walk on Sunday was inspiring. Only my regard for Joyce could get me into a pink shirt, but Joyce, you are worth that.

We'll keep you in our prayers.

  2. Joyce: I'm so happy to hear that you're feeling somewhat better. We prayed for you in Bible study today, as we do every Wednesday. Peace and blessings to you, Paul and your family.

  3. Wanted to let you know I check this blog every single day, sometimes twice, in case I have missed something. Joyce, you know how close I have always felt to you, a bond that has grown thru the years. I would call but as Paul has told you, I just want you to REST and keep FIGHTING the GOOD FIGHT. You are doing so great, as I always knew you would.
You are a strong lady... and have taught me more than you will every know about keeping the faith.
    Love ya.... Lynn

  4. Joyce,

Reynolds has been changing into his ReJoyce t-shirt every evening when returning from work. It's a reminder of how much we love you.
